Privacy Policy

WhatWhenHow · Last updated: 13 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the WhatWhenHow app (the "App", package ro.aliu.whatwhenhow) handles your information. WhatWhenHow is a personal event tracker: you define your own event types, tap to record when something happens, and review your recent activity. It is designed to be private by default.

The short version: WhatWhenHow stores everything you record on your own device. The developer does not operate any server, does not have an account system, and never receives, sees, or collects your data. The only copy that can leave your device is the automatic Android backup to your own Google account (described below), or a file you choose to export yourself.

Who is responsible

The App is published by Alexandru Aliu (the "Developer"). For any question about this policy, contact: [email protected].

What information the App handles

All information in WhatWhenHow is created by you. This may include:

Because you choose what to track, this information may be personal or sensitive to you (for example if you use the App to log health-related events). The Developer has no access to any of it. The App does not ask for your name, email, contacts, location, camera, or any device identifiers, and it contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking SDKs.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored locally on your device:

There is no login and no cloud account operated by the Developer. Your data is not transmitted to the Developer or to any third party by the App.

Automatic Android backup (important)

On Android, the operating system's Auto Backup feature may automatically copy the App's data — including your event database — to your own Google Drive account, if backup is enabled on your device. This copy is created and controlled by Android and Google, is tied to your Google account, and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. The Developer cannot access it.

You can control or disable this backup in your device settings, typically under Settings → Google → Backup (the exact path varies by device and Android version). Turning it off stops WhatWhenHow's data from being included in the Google backup.

Exporting and sharing your own data

The App lets you export your records to a CSV file and import them back. Exporting is always initiated by you. When you export and then share a file (for example by email or to another app), that file goes wherever you send it, and from that point it is outside the App's control and your responsibility.

Data sharing and selling

The Developer does not sell, rent, or share your data — the Developer holds none of it. The App integrates no third-party services that collect your data.

Your control over your data

Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. All data stays on the user's device.

Security

Because your data stays on your device, its protection depends primarily on the security of your device (screen lock, encryption, and your Google account security for the automatic backup described above).

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if the App changes. The revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date.
